POWER OF GOD
LIVES IN YOU
If you had a source of power to help you change your character, health, and focus, for the best, would you utilize it? And better yet, once you began to notice a change, would you continue to utilize that power?
I ask these questions because every year at the beginning of the year, many Christians participate in the Daniel fast; committing to either 21-30 days of fasting, praying, and meditating on the Christian Word of God, daily. The Daniel fast teaches people how to rely on, and utilize the source of power that lives in them; which is God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. In this fast, there are certain restrictions including:
– No food is to be consumed for partial day (12:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M.) or
– The whole day (6:00 A.M. – 6:00 P.M.),
and only drinking water, eating vegetables, legumes, fruit, seeds, whole grains, and/or nuts for the remaining portion of the day.
Although there are no real food guidelines in the Bible, it is clear no meat, choice foods, or wine are to be consumed (Daniel 10:3).
Through the Daniel fast, the goal is for a person to train their body and mind to resist their fleshly desires and rely on the power of God to provide them with spiritual food instead. This spiritual food consist of the power of God transforming the way of thinking, acting, and eating habits. The fast derives from the book of Daniel 10:1-21 in the Bible, but to understand why the fast was created, you have know a little about Daniel.
Daniel was an irrevocable trusting Prophet, faithfully committed to prayer and fasting in order to utilize the power of God within him. His desire was to bring God honor and glory through his actions, words and deeds. His love and trust for God was undeniable and through his fasting, Daniel was confident God received the committed sacrifices, and would bless the desires of Daniel’s heart. Daniel knew the power through fasting, and encouraged others to do the same.
UTILIZE
Today, the Daniel fast is used with the same intention and many people have great testimonies concluding the 21 day fast, but as I asked in the beginning, once you began to notice change,
Will you Continue to Utilize the Power?
HERE’S MY DANIEL FAST TESTIMONY
For the last 4 years, I’ve participated in the Daniel fast and the first year, I lacked obedience, so I was unsuccessful. However, the next year, I tried again and succeeded. Through the fast, God’s presence was an incredible source to my success. Our relationship deepened and I noticed great change in my obedience, prayer life, and began to follow His direction on eating healthier. I began increasing the Daniel fast diet on a daily basis, only still eating breast of chicken and some fish. 2 years ago, I succeeded again with the Daniel fast, and the fast deepened my relationship with God even more, as I began to hear his voice more clearly and more often. This fast was even better because at the end of the fast, God removed all my desire for chicken, and eggs and led me to be a vegetarian.
and provide you with His power, which is exactly what we need to sustain us!
All that time of cleansing; mentally, spiritually and physically, I wonder what the Lord is calling you to Continue to utilize His power for.
