I don’t speak on resilience from theory - I speak from lived experience. 

• Abandoned by my parents at age 3 and raised by my grandparents.
• Bullied by my teacher and classmates for 2 years -  muting my voice. 
• Was sexually abused at age 17 and scared into silence.
• Became a single mom at 20 (natural birth to a 9 lb 9 oz baby). 
• Spent 17 years in an on-and-off battle to live celibate. 
• Endured a two-year custody battle and lived without my child. 
• My daughter and I moved in with my Dad-3 weeks later he kicked us out.
• Became a single mom again at 38 (natural birth to a 9 lb 6 oz baby). 
• Sat alone in the ICU for 2 weeks watching my my 2 month old fight for her life.
• Every night listened to screams from my 2.5 year old - due to being molested by her teacher. 
• Experienced my child's dad abandoning us, when she was 5.
• Held my 5-year-old’s blood in my hands after she cracked her head open.

Here’s what I’ve learned: Life trials are uncomfortable - but it’s how we persevere through them that builds resilience.
